Canicom Sonic Bark Control Electronic Dog Training Collar Review
The Canicom Sonic Bark Control Collar provides a simple interface for a variety of bark control needs. By using a magnetic key to adjust all of the collar’s settings, trainers are assured that the dog, or even unauthorized people, will not alter the collar’s settings. At the same time, the magnetic key is simple to use. The on/off functionality means that the owner won’t have to continually apply and remove the collar when training periods begin and end. Even though the unit only weighs just under two ounces, this can be an adjustment for smaller breeds, and being able to have the dog wear the collar without necessarily having it activated means that the dog can be allowed ample time to adjust to the collar comfortably.
This electronic dog training collar senses when the dog barks, and is usually set to emit a high frequency non audible (ultrasonic) sound deterrent that only dogs hear. The sensitivity of the barking sensor can be altered, so that a variety of dog barking sounds can be addressed. If one’s dog seldom barks, then the sensitivity can be set low so that only excessive barking activates the deterrent. If the dog is a frequent barker, then high sensitivity will ensure that any barking is treated with prompt discipline. This also has an application if your dog vocalizes to communicate with other dogs or pets. By keeping the sensitivity set to low, the dog will still be able to sound quietly.
The deterrent itself can be set to an ultrasonic tone, or to ultrasonic tone plus vibration, or to vibration alone. By using the combination treatment, it is possible to teach the dog to associate the vibration with the unpleasant tone. After the association is in place, the collar can be set to vibration only and training can continue in a fashion that is sure to not disturb any other nearby dogs. Like many other electronic dog training collars, this system is ideal for the transition from a non-vibratory deterrent, into vibration only, which is arguably milder and certainly less noticeable for those nearby.
why would u want to use a collar such as this. if u stop ur dog from barking then how will a dog communicate to their owner that there is a threat or an intruder.
I like this whole idea. My dog would bark for no reason and there are times when I want peace and quiet in the house and I can’t have it, this is the best way!
As long as they are used for training and not for punishment, this is a good method.
Some people use them the wrong way which is where these items get a bad name.
